ARQUE - Report Generator on the Assessment of University Examinations   

What is ARQUE ?

 

Academic institutions of higher education are generally responsible for their own assessment procedures culminating in the award of degrees at honours or above level. Both the Cooke Report and the QAA Academic Handbook for Academic Review emphasise the requirement that each academic institution demonstrates its ability to monitor and control the quality of this assessment.

 

ARQUE is:-

· a solution to the above requirement!

· an innovative approach to assuring the quality of teaching in academic institutions;

an intelligent software package that employs appropriate and understandable statistical analyses to construct reports on every module’s outcomes.

 

As a result, ARQUE offers to:-

· Module coordinators, the ability to understand how well their assessment strategy has worked;

· Degree scheme coordinators, information on the appropriateness of a module to each degree scheme that  incorporates it;

· Academic departments, a report on the assessment of all their  modules, hence providing a sound basis for an annual review of teaching and assessment;

· Institutional Quality Committee, a summary report on aspects of the assessment process across the institution;

· The Institution, a formal mechanism for assuring the quality of assessment throughout the institution.

 

ARQUE is the result of years of development and analysis of examination results at the University of Wales Swansea by statisticians in the Business School. The software is designed to be tailored easily to fit each individual institution’s needs, accessing appropriate institutional databases directly throughan SQL interface.
